Aloha. We here on the Big Island are currently researching surfing accidents that have occurred in the line up with SUPs. We know that this is an extremely delicate subject but something needs to be done to regulate the amount of sups in the water at our breaks here on the Hilo side. There can be as many as 20 to 25 sups in the surfing lineup at one of our most popular winter spots and it is getting uglier. Do you folks have access to any such stats that you can share with us so that we can put our proposal together for the parties in charge of water and craft safety for the Big Isle?
