Innovation kicks into a new gear: Washer/toilet

A few weeks ago I waxed on about the lack of innovation in the environmetal movement.

Well… the times they are a-changin’.

Here’s an example ->

Sevin Coskun designed The Washup to… wash clothes and flush the toilet and do so with a compact footprint.

This was part of the Greener Gadgets Conference (vid below) and, to me, does a nice job of stepping back and looking at a landscape… then connecting some dots.

Our cultures current view of water is out of whack. We’ve built a culture that views the price of water as free (and thus the value as quite low)… this is illustrated by our willingness to water our plants with drinking water. In fact our view on water is something close to a cycle of insanity.

It’s good to see innovation find that new gear.
