Oceans, Waves and Beaches

But that, in effect, is what all of us have done with our plastic trash that ends up in our oceans.

I was at a marine debris conference recently. At one point during the round table which covered a myriad of vectors into the problem of single-use plastic pollution in our oceans someone said “let’s stop calling this ‘marine debris’ and call it what it is ‘ocean trash’.”

I have two favorite games that I take with me everywhere, Tetris and Scrabble.
Thus I’m pretty stoked that the ever-innovative crew at Surfrider Europe popped out an ocean-trash version of Tetris.

How different is our view on plastics now versus in the 1960s?
Answer.
Very different.
Plastics were celebrated then for lasting forever. Now that we are a few decades into them lasting forever (and finding plastic bits on literally every beach on the planet)… views have changed.
